Powder Blue Etsy Shop

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

Long time followers might recall that my dream is to live in San Francisco and study creative writing and photography. Long time followers might also recall that I've been wanting to open up my own Etsy shop for quite a while. Well it finally happened!
Powder Blue features a collection of vintage apparel (right now highly concentrated amounts of 1980s apparel) and will soon hopefully be featuring some of my photography as well as more handmade and decor items.
I'm extremely excited to finally be running my own little store. My main focus is to bring quality items all the while expanding my little bank account for the future.
I have a few ideas about handmade items I would like to work on but I would also like your personal opinion.
What items do you love to see in Etsy shops?

I recently reached fifty followers on this blog. As it turns out, I also reached my fiftieth post. So I'm celebrating with an outfit post.

P.S. I would like to thank all you wonderful bloggers who have been so supportive, especially with the last post I wrote. It's a beautiful feeling to know that I have a community of people who are so sincere and kind.

Stay tuned because I should be having a little surprise to share soon.
Have a wonderful day and happy blogging!

Sunday's Best

Sunday, September 6, 2009

The area that I've lived in all my life- especially my hometown, is not one known for stylish people. Most of what you will find in the closets of the average teen or young adult will be mainstream brands, those that you can find at the nearest mall. Vintage style is especially not a common sight. I guess that's what would explain the rather rude comments I received while walking around in my Mom's old graduation dress today. "Look at that girl, it looks like she's going to church" (etc.) It's not necessarily the words that were rude because, quite frankly, the dress is modest and church-like (and that's what most vintage items are like), it was the connotation, the rude snickering that was unnecessary. And although I will admit that I felt the surge of red paint my cheeks, I quickly got over it when it crossed my mind just how naive those people were. And then it was I who was laughing because at least I have the broader perception of clothing, timeless vintage style and the understanding of the wonderful capability of being different.

Perfect example of how narrow minded my hometown is and perfect example of why I know I don't want to center my life around this area in the future.
So as "church going" as this makes me look, here is my Sunday's best.
And I couldn't be more proud.
