A Sunny Appearance

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

The sun has finally come out, the almond trees are blooming and the sunsets seem prolonged and warmer. Alma and I decided to make the most of the birth of an early Spring by taking a walk on a sunny Monday afternoon. While juggling a film camera, a digital camera and our bags, we stopped by two abandoned houses and explored the hidden beauties of the soiled carpet and shattered windows and all the remains of the people who once lived there.
I've lived in my hometown all my life and even I who carries her camera(s) practically everywhere and is personally trained to see what nobody else sees was at a loss for the beauty and the possibilities that every hidden and unhidden place revealed.

The light is beautiful in all of them. The last one and the one with the window view of the rotted roof are my favorites. Finding beauty in the long forgotten is one of my favorite things about photography.

Hope you have a great weekend!
